The American professional basketball team Houston Rockets announced that it has signed a sponsorship deal with the New York Digital Investment Group (NYDIG), a leading Bitcoin company.
According to the press release issued by NYDIG on Nov. 16, “As the official bitcoin service partner and bitcoin platform of the Houston Rockets, NYDIG will be the exclusive franchise partner for a number of cryptocurrency services.”
Gretchen Sheirr, President of Business Operations at Rockets said:
“From basketball operations to business development, our organization has relied on advances in technology to stay current. The partnership with NYDIG enables us to leverage the growth of Bitcoin to offer creative rewards and payment options to our fan base and employees. “
Trey Zeluff, Director of Digital Asset Strategy at Fertitta Entertainment, said:
“Expanding the partnership between the Fertitta family and NYDIG to include the Houston Rockets was a natural decision. The Rockets is a leading sports brand and NYDIG is the leading provider of bitcoin financial services. Together we will offer Rockets fans and the city of Houston new opportunities to get to know and use Bitcoin. “
And Kelly Brewster, NYDIG’s chief marketing officer, added:
“We are pleased to have found a future-oriented partner in the Houston Rockets and the Fertitta family who understand that by taking over Bitcoin, companies and brands can build loyalty to this growing and influential customer base.
“The Rockets will be #PaidInBitcoin, and this partnership underscores our passion for the Houston area and the bitcoin innovation that is taking place there. NYDIG’s cross-business partnership with the Fertitta family will greatly accelerate their goal of making Bitcoin accessible to all. “
The press release went on to say that The Rockets “will partner with NYDIG to expand the Bitcoin ecosystem through access, educational programs and community support initiatives while giving NYDIG a significant presence on all of the team’s social, digital and in-arena platforms to offer. In addition, NYDIG will become “the first naming rights partner of the Toyota Center Suite levels, which will be referred to as” Bitcoin Suites by NYDIG “and will receive basic apron signage during the Rockets Games.”
