AMC CEO Says “Big News” For Dogecoin Fans As Cinema Chain Starts Accepting Crypto Payments For Gift Cards – Bitcoin News

The CEO of the world’s largest film exhibition company AMC Entertainment has announced “big news” for Dogecoin fans. While his company works to accept cryptocurrencies, customers can now “buy digital gift cards from AMC Theaters … with Dogecoin and other cryptocurrencies”.

AMC accepts cryptocurrencies for gift cards

After announcing that AMC will “figure out” how to accept Dogecoin alongside four other cryptocurrencies by the end of the year, CEO Adam Aron tweeted Tuesday that he had “big news” for Dogecoin fans.

AMC Entertainment Holdings is the largest film exhibition company in the US, Europe and the world. As of March 31, AMC owned or operated approximately 950 theaters and 10,500 screens worldwide.

The executive wrote: “Huge news for Dogecoin fans! As we are working to accept online crypto payments, you can now purchase AMC Theaters digital gift cards (up to $ 200 per day) of Dogecoin and other cryptocurrencies through a Bitpay wallet. Accepted on our website, in the mobile app and in cinemas. “

AMC CEO Says

The gift card merchant directory on the Bitpay website, which lists AMC gift cards, has over 100 entries. To purchase a gift card, users are instructed to install a Bitpay browser extension and use the Bitpay wallet.

The Dogecoin community welcomes this announcement from the CEO of AMC. Lots of people tweeted “This is huge” and “Doge to the moon!” Although this announcement was only for gift cards, the community expects that AMC will soon be accepting DOGE alongside other previously announced cryptocurrencies.

Aron announced in September that AMC would accept Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin and Bitcoin cash by the end of the year.

While Dogecoin was not on the original list of cryptocurrencies AMC would accept, Aron conducted a poll on Twitter asking his followers if AMC should accept Dogecoin. He was overwhelmed by the results and the response from the Doge community. The CEO then tweeted: “So fascinating! Dogecoin Poll was by far the best tweet I have ever read. In 24 hours, 4.2 million views, most retweets, most replies. 140,000 votes 77% yes 23% no. ”Then he announced that AMC would examine the acceptance of the meme cryptocurrency.
