AMC Theaters has launched the first phase of its plan to implement Dogecoin (DOGE) payments for its customers. This happens after the massive demand from the customer base to add the meme coin as a means of payment. AMC Theaters previously announced it would add crypto payments for concessions and tickets. Following the announcement, CEO Adam Aron conducted a Twitter poll asking the community whether Dogecoin should be included in the lineup. The response was overwhelming for the addition of Dogecoin and the CEO confirmed that the theater chain will start working on ways to integrate Doge payments on their platform.
AMC accepts Doges for gift cards
CEO Adam Aron took to Twitter to announce the latest development in the adoption of cryptocurrencies. Users can purchase gift cards from the entertainment giant for up to $ 200 per day. AMC Theaters accepts gift card payments both online and in its physical stores. Customers can pay for the gift cards with Dogecoin on the mobile app and website or, alternatively, go to any AMC Theater location and purchase the gift cards with Doge in-store.

The Dogecoin community has received the news positively. AMC boss Adam Aron received positive responses to his tweet announcing Doge’s payments for his gift cards. Matt Wallace, one of the most prominent figures in the Dogecoin community, took some time off to celebrate its success.

Dogecoin has proven to be a viable payment option for merchants who process a large number of small transactions. Billionaire Mark Cuban pointed out that Dog is a preferred payment method over Bitcoin as it is not perceived by the market as a store of value.
Transaction fees are much lower for cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Therefore, paying for concessions and theater tickets, which are small transactions, is more feasible with the mem, as the transaction fees are less than a dollar.

In addition to Bitcoin, Aron announced that the theater chain would add Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash as alternative payment methods.
