Another Dirt Dash Achievement – PortageOnline.com

The fourth annual Dirt Dash was hosted in Republic Park yesterday by the Portage Community Revitalization Corporation and the Portage Rotary Club.

Victoria Espey, Executive Director of the PCRC, is impressed with the number of teams participating.Victoria Espey

“We have about 160 people running today, which is pretty normal for every other year we’ve had,” she says. “This is our third year working with the Rotary club. We have new obstacles this year, so it’s going to be an exciting day.”

Espey adds that there is no such event in Portage.

“It’s a lot of work, so we work with the Rotary club,” she says. “But to get so much participation in all of our events, I mean the PCRC – and I know the Rotary club – we both work very hard to be relevant and do good in our community. PCRC is so community centered, “development, and sometimes that just means having fun.”

Mudley Crüe was one of the participating teams, and member Anne Marie Heard says they are participating for a reason.

“Brendan and I live in Portage and we love to support our community,” she says. “And my family is from Carman and Winnipeg and Edmonton. They are home for a wedding and it turns out we could recruit them to support our community. Our community gives us a lot and we love to give back. “
