At home or on the street it doesn’t seem to matter right now as the Colorado Avalanche does one thing very well no matter where they are – win hockey games. The Avalanche improved to 15-1-3 in their last 19 games with a 5-4 win over the brave Minnesota Wild on Monday.

Let’s take a look at this West Division competition from a betting perspective in our Avalanche vs. Wild betting preview with odds, tips and predictions.

Colorado has recorded at least one point in each of its last 15 competitions. They’re meeting with the Wild tonight, who will try to leave Colorado a calling card for the playoffs as this is their last regular meeting of the season.

Avalanche vs. Wild Betting Prediction

Colorado has the best record in the NHL (26-8-4, 56 points), has scored 50 goals more than its opponents (best in the NHL) and has the coveted combination of top offensive talent and a goalkeeper for the Vezina Trophy as the best net miner in the league.

They’ve made themselves the clear favorites to win the Stanley Cup this year as even good teams fight them.

Take the Minnesota Wild, which has the third-best record in the NHL since February 18. In the 25 games since that date, Wild, a strong defensive team, have allowed 60 goals (2.40 goals per game) – 16 of which come in three games against Colorado (5.33 GPG) meaning they’re only 44 in Remainder (2.00) allowed.

Colorado is 5-1-1 against Minnesota this season after scoring a total of 28 goals in seven games (4.00 GPG).

Bets we like with an avalanche win

Nathan MacKinnon scores 2+ points (+145, DraftKings) and Miko Rantanen scores 2+ points (+150, DraftKings)

Yes. These are the same props as on Monday. And why not? You have the best chance of happening.

MacKinnon now has 12 points in seven games against Minnesota and Rantanen has nine points in the same seven games. Rantanen also leads the avalanche with 20 points in 15 road games this season.

There are actually plenty of ways to deal with player props if you think the avalanche will keep rolling.

In those seven games against Minnesota this season, Colorado has four players averaging at least one point per game. So you can even consider players like Cale Makar (2-5-7) or Gabriel Landeskog (3-6-9) with -140 or -154 to be above 0.5 points at FanDuel.

Bets we like with a wild win

Minnesota scores first goal AND wins the match (including OT or Shootout) (+270, DraftKings)

The Wild are 13: 4: 0 on home ice this season. And while two of those losses were caused by the avalanche, the Wild play the kind of defensive game where they can set the pace of play if they score the first goal.

The Wild scored the first 10 goals in their 13 home ice victories. They are 10-2-0 at home when they score the first goal and 17-3-1 overall when they score the first goal. That is, they’ll be 6-9-1 if they give up the first goal.

So scoring the first goal is paramount to winning for the wild. Since they win 81% of the time scoring a goal first, this is a good approach to trying to profit from it as the first goal.

Bets we like regardless of the outcome

OVER 5.5 goals (-118, DraftKings)

Quite simply, six out of seven games between these teams have scored more than 5.5 goals this season. And when you consider that the Avalanche have averaged 4.85 goals per game in their last 13 competitions, it’s not too difficult to see that this is the seventh game between these teams to exceed that goal total.

Avalanche against wild forecast

There was a thought that the Wild might tame the avalanche last time based on the way they’d played defensive late. But this Colorado roster would make any of the greatest historic NHL defenses and goalkeepers blush.

You just keep coming back in waves and waves and have the feeling of proving something. When a team is doing as well as Colorado, all you have to do is ride them until they lose, not try to guess when that might be.

Since they’re a big favorite, you can get the Avalanche and the 5.5+ goals at DraftKings at +163, which is of great value for two likely outcomes. Let’s call it Avalanche 5, Wild 3.
