The Bitcoin Bridge, CoinGeek’s weekly show about Bitcoin stories in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, goes to Australia this week. January 26th is Australia Day, so BitPing’s Dean Little and Nick Carton talk about whether it’s any different to working as a developer in Australia than the rest of the world, why interest in BSV is higher in this country than most others. and of course via BitPing.
BitPing won the very first Bitcoin Association Hackathon in 2019. Back then it was known as UptimeSV, so the guys talk about how it went from that original hackathon idea to a company that actually makes money.
BitPing is a “Distributed Network Intelligence” service that monitors the status of websites and online apps. Instead of performing all network tests itself, it delegates them to a network of almost 400 “nodes” in 69 countries. The nodes carry out network health checks in the background and earn BSV micropayments for this.
One advantage of this is that a distributed network of nodes can perform these tasks far better than a centralized service in one location. Plus, anyone with an internet connection and browser can be a node operator and make money automatically. How does it work? Which services does BitPing offer and which new functions are to be introduced in 2021? To find out, you need to watch the interview.
BitPing is one of the most successful startups in the Bitcoin BSV industry, so we’ll talk about how the team achieved their goals – as well as their advice for anyone interested in getting started.
We also talk about the Bitcoin BSV community in Australia – specifically, whether there actually is and what impact factors like distance, population, and COVID-19 restrictions had on getting the job done.
Does interest in Bitcoin BSV in Australia have anything to do with Dr. Craig Wright to do? Dean and Nick share their thoughts on this matter and whether it is true that Australians understand Wright’s personality better than people in most other countries.
Learn more about BitPing and find out how much you actually know about Australia in this latest installment. Next week we’re going to be heading to a different part of APAC, probably something completely different – stay tuned.
