Multi-cryptocurrency ATM network Bitcoin Depot added 30 new Bitcoin ATMs in Chicago, making it the city with the second largest BATM network in the US after Los Angeles.
The Atlanta-based company said it had decided to make the major expansion of bitcoin ATMs as demand increased in Chicago.
Bitcoin Depot said it will not charge transaction fees for using Bitcoin ATMs in the region to encourage the adoption of Bitcoin.
Chicago, the second major financial center in the US, has shaped the Bitcoin community and is home to a number of blockchain-based startups.
Bitcoin Depot is one of the world’s largest multi-cryptocurrency ATM operators and currently has more than 200 BATMs in the US spread across 19 states.
That year, it expanded to seven new states – Illinois, Arizona, Nevada, Virginia, Georgia, Florida, and California.
The company aims to have around 300 BATMs installed in the US by the end of 2019.
Bitcoin Depot gives users the ability to buy and sell Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, and Bitcoin Cash through BATMs.
Despite fluctuating Bitcoin prices, market experts predict further growth in the number of Bitcoin ATMs across the country.
