Bitcoin remains in the water as global markets continue to look fearful

Crypto at a glance

Bitcoin continues to hold steady this morning around the $ 45,000 level where it has been trading for most of the weekend. The ship appears to have stabilized somewhat after last week’s flash crash threw the leading cryptocurrency back about $ 50,000 from sacred ground, but will we see further consolidation before another big move?

Markets generally continue to look fearful, with the S&P 500 – an index of the 500 largest publicly traded companies – falling for five consecutive days last week. It ended the week at its lowest point in nearly three weeks as concerns grow that the global economy in general is weakening. Central banks are trying to cut stimulus packages while inflation worries mount again.

In the crypto space in particular, rumors of countries adopting crypto continue to stir, with a meeting between the governments of Ukraine and El Salvadors causing a stir this week.
