Cosmos upgrades on Stargate: Another ICO 2017 almost completes its vision

The Stargate upgrade from Cosmos will go live on Thursday at 6:00 UTC. The Cosmos community recommends interested observers to check out the @cosmos account on Twitter.

Stargate represents an important milestone for the Cosmos project on the way to the introduction of its Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC), which enables easy interoperability of the more than 200 Tendermint-based blockchains. The era of cross-pollinating blockchains is imminent.

Stargate enables a number of other enhancements as well. The chain runs more efficiently, upgrades are much faster, and full nodes can be synchronized more quickly.

“Stargate is updating all software that IBC enables for ATOM, but there is an additional governance proposal before tokens can be transferred to and from the hub,” Iqlusion founder Zaki Manian told CoinDesk in an email.

It will be at least two more weeks for IBC to go into effect, but the software to run it is now in place.

Many blockchains that will be known to residents of the crypto community are part of the larger Cosmos ecosystem, including the stablecoin protocol Terra, the security-backed stablecoin USDX, the DeFi platform Kava, and the location verification network FOAM.

“The Foamspace team looks forward to the launch of Stargate in the Cosmos Hub, a crucial moment for the blockchain ecosystem that will enable the FOAM Proof of Location wireless protocol to be fully realized with global scalability through local consensus,” Ryan John King , CEO of FOAM, told CoinDesk in an email.

Kava’s team is cautiously optimistic about Stargate. “Before IBC can roll out, we need to conduct robust internal tests and reviews to ensure that it is interacting with the Kava blockchain as intended. Once this is complete, Kava is excited to announce the integration of IBC, ”Brian Kerr, CEO of Kava, told CoinDesk.

Another founder told CoinDesk he was particularly excited about the Cosmos cross-chain vision.

“The main reason I chose Cosmos to advance the technology in my company was the planned interoperability between different Cosmos zones,” Neeraj Murarka, CTO of Bluzelle, the decentralized Dapp data storage company, told CoinDesk in an E -Mail. “I was not only interested in an isolated network that my company operates. Interoperability is a big advantage. “

His interest didn’t stop there, however. It’s also the ability to scale to many users and many ecosystems. “One of the biggest key advantages I want to use with Stargate and IBC is scalability. It’s very difficult to scale blockchains, ”Murarka wrote. He hopes Cosmos will enable Blood Cell to reach apps on many chains.

Kava’s Kerr sounded similar: “Once IBC is integrated, Kava can quickly expand to hundreds of new blockchains and their users. We expect IBC to be a huge catalyst for the growth of the Kava platform. “

Real fans can watch the launch party, with members of the Cosmos team performing the upgrade live from 5:45 UTC.
