Dogecoin money to help the Doggos? Wife pays all adoption fees at the shelter

An anonymous donor made a generous donation to a Florida animal shelter on Saturday after receiving a godsend from her investment in the meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin (DOGE) reported Fox6 News.

What happened: A woman visited the Halifax Humane Society’s shelter in Daytona and, according to the report, paid all adoption fees for dogs ready for adoption. The donor did not want to be identified and wrote her name as “Dogecoin”.

The woman said she wanted to do something nice as her investment in a cryptocurrency turned out to be a godsend.

The dog donation came at a perfect time for the shelter, which, according to the Fox report, had taken in 42 dogs from a suspected dog fighting ring in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Meanwhile, Dogecoin co-creator Billy Markus said in a tweet that while he wants Doge to do well, he hopes “the community is a force for good.”

I’ve said that from the start: I want DOGE to do well, but what is much more important to me is that the community is a force for good.

I do not have Dogecoin. My stake is pretty small to a creator.

I’m just the guy who made it through and tells you things the way they are.

Why it matters: Dogecoin is based on the popular internet meme “doge” and was released in 2013 as a joke. The cryptocurrency was created by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer.

Dogecoin caught attention at the start of the Reddit-fueled GameStop stock trading earlier this year. The Shiba Inu-themed cryptocurrency, which hit an all-time high of $ 0.4377 on April 16, has now become the darling of retail investors.

Dogecoin is increasingly being endorsed by large companies, including Conagra Brands Inc.. (NYSE: CAG) and candy bar snickers who use the joke cryptocurrency for marketing purposes. The cryptocurrency’s year-to-date gains are an impressive 4,296.8%.

Dogecoin is the eighth largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization according to CoinMarketCap data. However, the altcoin is down 24.4% in the past 24 hours and is trading at $ 0.2117 at press time.
