Emirates News Agency – NYUAD, Ripple University’s blockchain research initiative to prepare the next generation of business leaders in the region
ABU DHABI, April 28, 2021 (WAM) – Leading blockchain technology provider Ripples University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) has teamed up with its first partner in the United Arab Emirates and the region, NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD).
As part of the new partnership, a Ripple Blockchain Collaboratory will be established at NYUAD to advance the role of new technologies and prepare the next generation of financial and business leaders, entrepreneurs, corporations and other professionals in the region to develop and apply technologies including blockchain , Cryptocurrency and cybersecurity on their business practices.
The Ripple Blockchain Collaboratory serves two main purposes. Research and project-based courses encourage teacher and student engagement in the fields of blockchain, cryptocurrency, cybersecurity, fintech, and related topics.
It will also be part of the Corporate Sprint Accelerator program developed by startAD, the Tamkeen-operated and NYUAD-based startup accelerator that drives fintech and blockchain startups from around the world to pilot projects with innovative companies in enter and grow in the UAE market.
Commenting on the announcement, Ramesh Jagannathan, CEO of startAD and Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship at NYUAD, said: “We are excited to partner with Ripple’s UBRI on this groundbreaking initiative. Blockchain is the cornerstone of the digital transformation that will drive development in the economy decades to come.
“The global market size for Blockchain Distributed Ledger was estimated at $ 2.89 billion in 2019 and is expected to reach $ 137.29 billion by 2027, which corresponds to a CAGR of 62.7 percent from 2020 to 2027. NYUAD and startAD want at the forefront are research and implementation of new technologies in real applications, driven by visionary government initiatives such as the Emirates Blockchain Strategy 2021. ”
