NYDIG forges crypto services partnership with the Houston Rockets
NYDIG, the bitcoin service company, has signed a sponsorship deal with the Houston Rockets, the two-time NBA basketball champions. The deal allows NYDIG to be the team’s official bitcoin service partner and platform, which means the company has exclusive access to multiple areas of the franchise, including social, digital, and in-arena platforms.
The Houston Rockets will also be working with NYDIG to expand knowledge and awareness about the world of cryptocurrencies and how to use these new investment vehicles. On the subject, Gretchen Sheirr, President of Business Operations, Houston Rockets said:
Our organization relied on technological advances to keep up to date. Partnering with NYDIG enables us to capitalize on Bitcoin’s growth to offer creative rewards and payment options to our fan base and employees.
NYDIG naming rights and recent partnerships
With the deal, NYDIG will also receive naming rights to the suite levels of the Toyota Center (home arena of the Houston Rockets), referred to as “Bitcoin Suites by NYDIG,” and will receive advertising during the Rockets games. The amount of sponsorship (which was not disclosed by either party) is paid in full in Bitcoin by NYDIG, with the funds being held in NYDIG’s custody. Kelly Brewster, NYDIG’s Chief Marketing Officer, detailed:
The Rockets are paid in Bitcoin, and this partnership underscores our enthusiasm for the Houston area and the bitcoin innovation that is taking place there.
NYDIG has been on the rise in partnerships lately and earlier this month also partnered with Landry’s – the restaurant, hospitality and entertainment company – to develop a Bitcoin loyalty rewards program that brings bitcoin rewards to certain users of the franchise. The company also acquired Bottlepay, a Lightning Network-based payment company, to add its Lightning Network infrastructure to NYDIG’s current full-stack offering.
