On this episode of The Center Cannot Hold, host Alex McShane of Pete Rizzo discussed his latest Forbes article, Against Cryptocurrency: The Ethical Argument For Bitcoin Maximalism.
They explored how bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that really protects users’ rights, the various disagreements between crypto agnostics and bitcoin maximalists, why it is important to distinguish bitcoin from crypto for new people coming into space, and much more.
“Do you have an absolute right to your money, in any case if you would contradict others?” Asked Rizzo. “With Bitcoin, in my opinion, we have the highest level of security that it offers.”
The couple also discussed that Bitcoin is the only monetary system that protects the rights of minority users, the flawless design of Bitcoin and why Bitcoin does this differently, and why Bitcoin is not an “old technology” and cannot be easily replaced by a new system.
“With bitcoin, there was a time when bitcoin was worthless,” said Rizzo. “And then Bitcoin monetized. It was almost like the spontaneous creation of life. You have data that was worthless, and then Bitcoin crossed that divide. It became life, it became worth. “
