In this episode of the Bitcoin Magazine Podcast, Aaron van Werdenum spoke to Jorge Valenzuela and Roman Martinez, alias Chimbera, two community leaders of the Bitcoin Beach project in El Zonte, El Salvador.

Valenzuela and Martinez shared the story of Hope House, at the heart of the Bitcoin Beach project, which aims to provide a sense of community and perspective to local youth. They explained how their efforts to integrate Bitcoin over the past few years have come and what that process has been like.

Valenzuela and Martinez went on to explain how El Zonte has quickly become a bitcoin hotspot in El Salvador and Central America, and how this has changed the lives of people in the coastal surfing town.

From there, Bitcoin Beach community leaders explained how the country of El Salvador passed the new law to make Bitcoin legal tender and how they received the new law in El Zonte. They also discussed what they thought the rest of the country thought of the new law.

Eventually, Valenzuela and Martinez speculated on what the Bitcoin law could mean for El Zonte and El Salvador, and how bitcoiners from around the world could contribute to the initiative’s success.
