IOTA works with a subsidiary of the United Nations to improve the data management of the United Nations

IOTA has signed a letter of intent with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to improve the internal processes of the United Nations. UNOPS will use IOTA’s DAG-based ‘Tangle’ ledger to “explore how innovative data management technology can increase the efficiency of humanitarian development operations”.

More specifically, “IOTA’s distributed ledger can provide a higher level of efficiency in managing and tracking UN documents, supply chains and transactional payments in real time, with both UNOPS and its partners having access,” the blog post said the partnership.

UNOPS operations in more than 80 countries, as well as its links with the World Bank, the United Nations Development Program and the Peacekeeping Operations Department, could offer IOTA a number of significant opportunities.

IOTA is steadily moving forward

This is the latest in a series of high profile partnerships and collaborations that IOTA has entered into over the past six months. In the fourth quarter of 2017, IOTA launched (with some controversy) a data marketplace with participants such as Microsoft and Fujitsu. At the beginning of 2018, IOTA teamed up with ITIC to “build a global alliance of test stands for intelligent mobility”. IOTA has also launched a $ 37 million “ecosystem” to promote projects in the global development community.

At press time, a single IOTA token was trading for around $ 1.54, up from a high of around $ 5.24 in January.

In an exclusive interview with Finance Magnates earlier this year, IOTA founder David Sønstebø said that “from the day we started” [the IOTA network], We have always said that we are neutral in terms of ideology, we concentrate on the pragmatic approaches. We created technology that works for the real world, not just concepts that reflect the rest of existence. “
