Colorado took advantage of the Vegas salary cap issues that allowed three players to face the Golden Knights 2-1 on Monday. The Avalanche continue to control their own destiny as they seek to finish first in the West Division and win the NHL President’s Trophy, which is awarded to the team with the best regular season record. Tonight they will try to take a big step towards those goals as they host the kings.
Let’s take a look at this matchup, the seventh between Los Angeles and Colorado this season, from a betting perspective in our Kings vs. Avalanche betting preview with odds, tips and predictions.
Apparently this is a cheap matchup for the Avalanche as the Kings have lost three games in a row and only play 1-5-0 against them this season.

Kings vs. Avalanche Betting Pick (May 12, 2021)
The Avalanche is currently on the second longest home point series in franchise history with at least one point in 15 games in a row in the Ball Arena (14-0-1). This stretch includes seven home wins in a row. Overall, Colorado is 20: 4: 2 at home this season, the second-best brand in the NHL.
Colorado is really good at the front end of this season’s back-to-back games too. It’s 8: 1: 0 for the best grade in the league.
Meanwhile, the Kings have been a pretty solid street team lately, winning 5-2-0 in their last seven away games. Despite losing three games (0-2-1), all three defeats were scored with one goal, while six of the last eight games were decided with one goal (2-3-1).

Bets we like with an avalanche win
Avalanche to win AND UNDER 6.5 goals (-105, DraftKings)
Colorado is an overwhelming favorite. They’re going to win this game because they’re too tough and Los Angeles has nothing to play. But how do you bring these opportunities to a balanced price-performance ratio? You hit a whole puck with the over / under line and take the under and parlay lines with a Colorado win. All six games between these two teams have scored less than 6.5 goals this season and this should be no different.

Bets we like with a Kings Win
Gabriel Vilardi OVER 0.5 goals (+460, FanDuel)
Vilardi was the Kings first round of voting in 2017, and now, at age 21, he’s starting to show why he’s been so heavily touted. Vilardi has points in four straight games for the Kings, and after an eight game point drought last month, Vilardi has points in eight of his team’s last eleven games. He has scored two goals against Colorado this season, including one last weekend in Los Angeles.
With the odds as big as they are for the bettor and with Vilardi finding his game, this is a worthy gamble for a nice payout.

Bets we like regardless of the outcome
Andre Burakovsky OVER 0.5 points (-132, FanDuel)
If you’ve followed the majority of our betting recommendations over the past six weeks, you know we believe in hot streaks of drivers. Nathan MacKinnon made you a lot of money with it last month. Burakovsky is the newest Avalanche player to play this type of role. He drives a six-point series (4-5-9) and has points in 9-of-11 (6-8-14). The odds are not terrible in the event that it fails, but it is likely that it will hit you and keep your Avalanche player props winnings going.
Kings vs. Avalanche Prediction
The Kings will keep it close for a while as they are used to, but the game just means too much to Colorado. The Avalanche play like they have a man advantage in the Ball Arena for 60 minutes. Look for the Avs who can retire late and win the division crown.
Selection: Avalanche 4, Kings 2
