Well, the Kings didn’t reach the competitive level of the Avalanche. Our Colorado advice hit yesterday (Avalanche and the underparlay, Burakovsky over 0.5 points), but we didn’t see the 6-0 avalanche shellac coming.

Let’s take a look at this game, the eighth and last between Los Angeles and Colorado this season, from a betting perspective in our Kings vs. Avalanche betting preview with odds, tips and predictions.

Colorado took advantage of the fact that they had their sights set on a divisional crown and a less interested Los Angeles squad as opponents to bury the Kings – quickly.

It pushes the Avs to win the West Division and end up with the best record in the NHL and home advantage in the playoffs if they can beat the Kings again tonight.

Kings vs. Avalanche betting tip (May 13th 2021)

With at least one point in 16 games in a row in the Ball Arena (15-0-1), the Avalanche are currently on the second longest home series of points in franchise history. This includes eight home wins in a row. Win tonight and match the record of 17 straight games won on the home ice from 2002 to 2003. Overall, Colorado is at home 21-4-2 this season.

Colorado is also very good at the backend of back-to-back games this season, going 6-0-3.

Before last night’s debacle, the Kings have been a pretty solid road team lately, but now they’re on a four-game losing streak (0-3-1) and only have one more game to get into the summer sunset.

Kings vs. avalanche rates

Spread: Kings (+1.5 +118), avalanche (-1.5 -141)
Money line: Kings (+310); Avalanche (-385)
Over under: Over 5.5 (-120) / Under 5.5 (-103)

Here are the lines for Kings vs. Avalanche at DraftKings Sportsbook:

Bets we like with an avalanche win

Avalanche -1.5 AND UNDER 6.5 goals (+175, DraftKings)

The Avalanche will win, but if you put -385 you always have a break (it’s even worse on FanDuel where it’s -430). So what can you do to cash in on an almost certain thing without risking so much of your bankroll? Similar to yesterday’s recommendation, but a little different and with better odds, take the avalanche to cover the puck line and annoy the over / under with a goal to get cheap odds.

Again, NONE of the seven games between these teams this season have exceeded six goals. And Colorado doesn’t want to get into a nail biter with so much at stake. That smells like a good bet.

Bets we like with a Kings Win

Gabriel Vilardi OVER 0.5 goals (+430, FanDuell)

We don’t think the Kings with HE double hockey sticks stand a chance of winning this game. Even so, we’re sticking to the same advice we gave yesterday because it’s just so valuable. Vilardi was the Kings first round draft pick in 2017, and now at the age of 21, he’s starting to show why he’s been so highly acclaimed.

Vilardi broke his four-game points streak last night but has scored two goals against Colorado this season, including one in Los Angeles last weekend. Given the tremendous odds of the weather and the fact that Vilardi recently found his game (aside from last night) this remains a worthy gamble for a nice payout.

Bets we like regardless of the outcome

Andre Burakovsky OVER 0.5 points (-148, FanDuell)

Sports betting is starting to catch up on those player props, but we think anything below -150 is worthwhile, so this may be the last game you can get Burakovsky at worthy odds (he was -132 on the same bet yesterday). If you’ve followed our betting recommendations over the past six weeks, you know we believe players are hot streaks.

Nathan MacKinnon made you a lot of money with it last month. Burakovsky is the newest Avalanche player to hit this type of role. He is on a seven-game streak (4-6-10) and has points in 10 of his last 12 games (6-9-15). Chances are if you fail to do that, odds are that it will hit and you will continue to cash in on the winnings of your Avalanche player props.

Kings vs. avalanche forecast

We thought the Kings would be staying with the Avalanche for a while yesterday before Colorado left. We were wrong about that. Fortunately, that didn’t affect our betting advice, nor do we think our choice will be canceled tonight.

Colorado REALLY wants to be number 1 overall for the playoffs. You were on a mission. They won’t blow it on home ice in the final game of the season against a non-playoff team. No

Selection: Avalanche 5, Kings 1.
