Charlie Lee is one of the most important figures in the world of crypto. After developing Litecoin as a quick and cheap alternative to Bitcoin, his decision to sell all of his tokens made him quite a controversial figure.
Charlie Lee
Although Charlie remains committed to the development of Litecoin, he was interested in many projects within the ecosystem. In a recent interview, he stated that Monero (XMR) is one of the most eye-catching cryptocurrencies for him.
Developing LTC is better than Hodling LTC
Speaking to SFOX, Charlie Lee mentioned that his interest in developing Litecoin extends beyond the purely economic aspect of things. He reiterated that the decision to sell all of his LTC allowed him to fully devote himself to developing this blockchain without distracting from the price of LTC as an influencing factor:
These days I am not motivated by financial gains. I focus on spending all of my time with Litecoin because it’s my baby: I made it, I want it to be successful, and when it goes well I get pride, fame, whatever. I spend all of my time doing it, and time is more valuable to me than money. So I am definitely fully invested in the success of Litecoin.
I don’t have to contribute financially. Financially, it doesn’t really help, to be honest. I’m actually working harder on Litecoin right now than before: When I got my LTC, I spent most of my time with Coinbase.
Monero (XMR): An interesting project
Lee has been an influential player in numerous blockchain technology projects. In addition to the development of Litecoin (LTC), he is involved in the implementation of the SegWit protocol, the Lighting Network, the Atomic Swaps and numerous bug fixes.
He noted that one of the projects he found particularly interesting was Monero (XMR), a cryptocurrency based on privacy as a strength:
Another project that interests me as a Monero: I think Bitcoin and Litecoin are missing a bit of privacy and fungibility and are badly needed.
The Litecoin community is pretty interactive too. “
Charlie Lee’s interest in Monero (XMR) is nothing new. In the past, Ricardo Spagni, the creator of Monero, jokingly commented that Litecoin and Monero are working together in an alliance. When Charlie heard about this tweet, he said that partnering could benefit both blockchains, whether or not it was a joke.
While @fluffypony was fun here, I think it would be good for Litecoin and Monero (2 of the best non-scam coins 😄) to work together. Some time ago I suggested that we work on making it easier for people to do decentralized, on-chain atomic swaps of LTC and XMR. https://t.co/idDn7Dmzf7

I believe this is a win-win as LTC / XMR is interoperable: XMR users get access to LTC’s liquidity (LTC is close to all exchanges) and LTC users get easy access to anonymity and Fungibility of Monero.

On previous occasions, Lee has conducted several polls researching public opinion about what developments and features they would like to see in Litecoin. The answers generally point to developments implemented in Monero’s blockchain.
What technology / feature are you most looking forward to when added to Litecoin after activating SegWit on Litecoin?

Likewise, another survey in August found that most of the community would add the option of confidential transactions. Mr. Lee wanted to know how much the Litecoin community wanted to see this feature. Only 22% said they didn’t want extra privacy.
Fungibility is the only feature of Sound Money that Bitcoin and Litecoin lack. Do you support adding a privacy feature to Litecoin? If so, which ones do you prefer and why?

Charli Lee and Ricarho Spagni: Beyond technology
Charlie Lee is a member of the Magical Crypto Friends group, which includes Ricardo Spagni. Hence, it’s not hard to see that the support between the two developers is more than technological. You belong to a community of fellow developers who share the same mindset.
