We informed you earlier that Nissan was the Terra 7-seater SUV in India. At the unveiling of Kicks, the Japanese brand said it would launch the global range of SUVs including Patrol, Pathfinder, Terra and others in India. The Terra 7-seater SUV was presented in April 2018. This SUV was specially developed for Southeast Asian markets and is already available in China and the Philippines.

Nissan has taken a new approach to playing premium in India. The company is aiming for its high-performance SUV in order to increase sales in the highly competitive market. Since premium SUVs are getting a good response from buyers, the Terra could be a good product in India. It is based on the body-on-frame chassis of the third generation Navara. The SUV will challenge Ford Endeavor, Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.

In terms of proportions, the Nissan Terra is 4.9 meters long, 1.9 meters wide, 1.8 meters high and has a wheelbase of 2.9 meters. The SUV has a ground clearance of 225 mm. The SUV is larger and roomier than its direct competitors, which should give it a competitive advantage. The new Nissan Terra is powered by the new 2.5-liter YD25 diesel engine, which develops 188 hp at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed automatic unit. The top-end model also receives a part-time all-wheel drive system with a locking differential at the rear.
