QiKU, a joint venture between the Chinese internet company Qihoo 360 and the mobile phone manufacturer Coolpad, has launched its first smartphone in India, the QiKU Q Terra. The smartphone will be available exclusively through Gadgets 360. The smartphone has a price of Rs. 19,999 when purchased with an invitation and Rs. 21,999 when purchased without an invitation. Invitations will be available from December 5th.
With the Q Terra, QiKU is the youngest Chinese company to enter the Indian market. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Coolpad made its debut in India in May of this year with the introduction of the entry-level Dazen 1 and the high-end Dazen X7 in another joint venture with Qihoo 360.
The QiKU Q Terra offers high-end specifications with a fingerprint sensor. It has a 6-inch Full HD (1080 x 1920) Sharp IPS display with a pixel density of 386 ppi. It is powered by Qualcomm’s hexa-core Snapdragon MSM8992 808 SoC clocked at 2 GHz with Adreno 418 GPU, 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage with support for additional storage up to 128 GB via microSD card.
On the photography front, the QiKU Terra has two 13-megapixel rear-view cameras with dual-tone LED flash, f / 1.8 aperture and functions such as “Fast Focus” (from 0.1 seconds), geo-tagging and support for 4K video recording. One 13 megapixel sensor (Sony IMX278) takes a normal color image, while the second (Sony IMX214 Mono) takes a black and white image. Combined, QiKU says the resulting image has better color accuracy.
There is also an 8-megapixel front camera with f / 2.4 aperture that can record videos in full HD resolution. The dual-SIM-capable handset (micro-SIM and nano-SIM) supports 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi and other standard connectivity functions. It carries a 3700 mAh battery with support for faster charging.
The handset runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based Qihoo 360 OS with additional security functions. The company adds that QiKU Q Terra users can uninstall all standard apps except dialers and messages.
Disclosure: Gadgets 360 is the exclusive trading partner for QiKU Q Terra.
