Stellar Health appoints Jonathan Blum, Dr. Richard Park, Dr. Soujanya (Chinni) Pulluru, Nanette DeTurk and Jack Friedman to the advisory board

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE) – Stellar Health, a health technology company headquartered in New York City, has announced the appointment of five new members to the company’s rapidly growing advisory board, effective immediately. The board includes Jonathan Blum, Dr. Richard Park, Dr. Soujanya (Chinni) Pulluru, Jack Friedman and Nanette DeTurk. As Stellar Health expanded into eleven US states in 2019, the company is looking for key industry veterans to help them with their mission to enable and advance value-based care.

“We are excited to join the Stellar Health team and welcome some of the best in healthcare to transform value-driven care,” said Michael Meng, CEO and co-founder of Stellar Health.

Jonathan Blum, former Principal Principal Administrator of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and now Managing Principal of Health Management Associates, has 20 years of leadership experience in public and private healthcare funding organizations.

“During my time at CMS, I have endeavored to make fundamental changes to the Medicare Advantage program, which has grown rapidly over the past few years. Payers have begun to commit to value-based care models that start with a product like Stellar Health. Stellar Health is the highest quality incentive and physician engagement program on the market. With Stellar Health, practices can know where they stand and how they are measured in order to provide the best possible care, ”said Jonathan Blum.

Dr. Richard Park is the co-founder and CEO of CityMD, which recently merged with Summit Medical. CityMD is the leading emergency care provider in metropolitan New York with over 120 locations. He is also a certified emergency physician and managing partner at Ascend Capital Partners, a growth-oriented private equity fund for the healthcare industry.

Dr. Soujanya (Chinni) Pulluru is a General Practitioner and Healthcare Executive with over 15 years of healthcare leadership experience. She has pioneered the implementation and growth of various risk portfolios, multi-million dollar APM contracts, and has achieved top quality Medicare and commercial contract ratings in the industry.

Dr. Pulluru emphasizes from her time as Executive Medical Officer of the DuPage Medical Group: “I firmly believe that there is a fundamental gap between payers and providers. This prevents the introduction of value-based care and leads to a lasting change in health care. Stellar Health serves as a trusted translation agent between the two, engaging vendors to improve patient outcomes. ”

Jack Friedman has over 30 years of healthcare experience. He was the former SVP of Responsible Nursing for Providence Health & Services and Chief Executive Officer of the Providence Health Plan.

“During my time at Providence Health, I worked to improve quality, costs and access. I knew that in order to promote value-based care, you had to find a model that really activates and rewards basic care. The Stellar Health model does just that, and I wish we had that solution when I was at Providence Health, ”said Jack Friedman.

Nanette DeTurk is a principal of Black Powder Advisors, a health strategy and advisory services company. She is currently a Special Adviser and a member of the Advisory Board of Echo Health Ventures. She is the former EVP, CFO and Strategy Leader for Highmark Health.

These new additions to the Stellar Health Advisory Board bring a wealth of experience and diverse and unique skills to the table. The incredible knowledge and expertise, from doctors to executives, will have an immediate impact on the continued success of Stellar Health. As Stellar Health continues to grow, this industry-leading advisory board will help shape and define the next generation of Stellar innovation in value-based care.
