Terra Life Sciences begins construction of the 230,000 square foot medicinal cannabis facility Terra Quantum in Olds, Alberta

CALGARY, April 30, 2018 / CNW / – Terra Life Sciences Inc. (Terra Life Sciences) will commence construction immediately on Terra Quantum, the Company’s second phase of medicinal cannabis cultivation after the Company has given the project development approval for the project City of Olds.

The 230,000 square foot facility will be built alongside the company’s existing pharmaceutical manufacturing facility and its 50,000 square foot first phase cultivation facility, which is nearing completion. With this capacity, the company will be able to maintain control of its supply chain and production quality and quantities. The combined cannabis production capacity of the two buildings will be around 35,000 kilograms per year.

Dr. Anil Jain, President and Chief Executive Officer of Terra Life Sciences, said prep work for the site will begin immediately, with a scheduled start-up date in Q2 2019. Jain the strong story that the company and the City of Olds.

Terra Life Sciences has selected the Ledcor Group as the prime contractor for Terra Quantum based on the company’s experience with projects with similar technical requirements and project schedules.

The company’s own research and breeding center is also being built. This facility will enable Terra Life Sciences to create unique strains and chemical profiles of medicinal cannabis that are targeted to specific medical conditions. Construction of the 17,000 square meter facility is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The company will hire 20 additional employees in the near future, with more to follow when Terra Quantum and the research and breeding center are up and running. More than 100 people will be employed to build the two new projects, with Terra Life Sciences pledging to hire as much local workforce and contractors as possible.
