As is the dwarven tradition, the Intersteller Halflings at Deep Rock Galactic just won’t stop digging. Alien bugs or no, there’s gold down there – so grab a shovel and step into the hole. This week, the developers at Ghost Ship Games revealed their plans for the next few months of mining and shooting, bringing new biomes, classes, jobs, and objectives to the bearded guys in space.
Deep Rock Galactic ended its early access contract with the launch last Thursday. But the digging is never quite complete – and the supervisors at Ghost Ship Games have outlined the next three updates that you’ll be looking at in the coming year.
Deep Rock Galactic’s post-launch roadmap, which the bulletin is posting on Steam this week, describes the Deputy Miner’s next three content losses. Update 31 will be released next month and includes some features that for some reason didn’t make it into the 1.0 launch – 3 new mission objectives, a “smart stout” to slurp, new monster pages, and improvements to the proc-gen cave systems.
Sometime after the summer, Update 32 will set up two new mission types and more cosmetics in addition to a new cosmetic DLC pack and other unconfirmed bonuses. At the end of the year, Update 33 plans to offer two planetary biomes, new enemy types and “less announced material”.
While he’s not a fan of his direct influences in either Minecraft or Left 4 Dead, Nic Reuben had a lot of fun with the game in his Deep Rock Galactic review. “Sixteen tons of detail, sixteen tons of character, sixteen tons of seditious insect hunting, caving. Deep Rock Galactic is a company I have no qualms about selling my soul to for hours.”
