The home winning streak ends, Knights defeated Avalanche 3-2 in OT

DENVER (KDVR) – Max Pacioretty scored 1:56 in overtime to give the Vegas Golden Knights a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.

Vegas bounced back from a 5-1 defeat in Thursday night’s opener and was two points ahead of Colorado at the top of the West Division.

Joonas Donskoi scored at 1:16 in the first shot of the game. Devon Toews scored a pass from Nathan MacKinnon less than three minutes ahead of the first to raise the Avs by one.

“I thought it was a highly competitive game. We work overtime and I didn’t like it when MacKinnon didn’t get a call and stumbled on the side boards there. It’s a 3-on-1 game, ”said avalanche trainer Jared Bednar.

Philipp Grubauer made 31 parades. The Avalanche had won eight times in a row at home and are 8-0-2 in their last ten games.

“I thought Grubie he was brilliant tonight in my opinion. Keep us in the hockey game and we fought on the other end too. Fleury made a few saves, we had a few options, especially in the second period. I thought we were a pretty dangerous team, ”said Bednar.

Pacioretty also had an assist, Alex Martinez and William Carrier scored and Marc-Andre Fleury made 22 saves.
