GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colorado – The cinema and television created the expectation and illusion of what certain life changing moments should be like.
You’d think that the moment Conor Timmins lined up the final roster for the Colorado Avalanche and realized his lifelong dream of playing in the NHL would lead to an emotional episode where he and his parents immediately start crying and thinking how far their entire family has come to reach a place that for most people is just a dream.
Now let’s make way for reality: that didn’t happen.
Dan Timmins scoured social media to see who made the final list of the avalanche before the opening night. He saw nothing, but when he got the call from his son he was sitting in the dentist’s chair unable to speak.
A few minutes later, father and son had the interview. It had to be emotional.
