First, Shane Bowers wondered whether he would quit school and sign with the Colorado Avalanche or return to Boston University for a third season.
That question was answered on Friday when the 19-year-old Center decided to quit his junior year to sign with the Avalanche. Bowers has signed an amateur tryout contract and will play for the remainder of the year with the Colorado Eagles, the AHL subsidiary of the Avs. His entry-level contract for three years starts next season.
“A really good player, our organization is of course very happy to sign him,” said Avalanche coach Jared Bednar of Bowers after the team’s morning skate on Friday. “He’ll go up the street and join the Eagles.
